ShareASale Affiliate marketing network.
ShareASale is an affiliate marketing network based in the River North neighbourhood in Chicago, IL USA. Affiliates use ShareASale to find products to promote and earn a commission for referrals on those products. marketers use it to implement, track, and manage their affiliate programs.
Brief History Of ShareAsale
Brian Littleton started ShareASale in 2000, and it now hosts over 3900 merchant programs on its network infrastructure. ShareASale is one of the largest affiliate networks in the United States in terms of the number of advertisers who use an affiliate network to handle their affiliate program. On June 10th, 2017, it was bought for an unknown sum by Awin, a subsidiary of the Axel Springer Group.
What is affiliate marketing?
Merchants sell directly from their websites, and affiliate programs enable you to link to them directly. If a customer clicks on one of these links and then makes a purchase, the affiliate receives a tiny commission.
The key to affiliate marketing is trust: we’ve all seen websites that are nothing more than sponsored links and adverts, or business blogs with entries that are nothing more than marketing text for merchants. To make affiliate marketing work, you must first identify the ideal affiliate partner and then guarantee that the material you provide will pique the attention of users and force them to click on merchant links.
Why choose Shareasale?
Shareasale is a wellknown affiliate marketing program with over two decades of sales and advertising expertise. Affiliates have access to over 4,800 merchants in a variety of sectors and specialist industries, making it simple to discover the appropriate fit for your website. The firm is well-known and well-reviewed, and affiliate registration is free.
ShareASale can help an online business grow its client base by attracting new consumers through performance marketing. Performance marketing enables the merchant to connect to a large network of existing affiliates by utilizing proprietary technologies. Individual merchants determine the affiliate compensation structure and only pay commissions on sales, not direct sales.
As an affiliate, you choose one of the ShareASale merchants and try to drive sales to their websites. marketers will then pay a commission on sales generated by affiliate referrals. Affiliates may also log in and view their statistics and earnings in real-time. Shareasale has over 2,500 merchants selling a wide range of items and services.
ShareASale will supply affiliates with referral links and banners for any of the merchants that are available. As an affiliate, you will add links to your websites and begin earning money on referrals. To join the affiliate program, ShareASale costs a $550 startup fee. In addition, retailers must decide on a compensation system for paying affiliates.
The first thing we need to take a look at is how easy (or difficult) it is to sign up for a publisher account with ShareASale.
Certain affiliate networks make this far more complicated than it needs to be.
#1 Choose a username and password and let them know what country you live in.
#2 Add your primary affiliate website– this domain will be used to verify your ShareASale account later, so use a live site.
They’re also pretty stringent about the types of affiliate marketing sites they allow on the network i.e. no adult content:
#3 Enter your email address, but using an email address @yourdomain.com is going to be far more effective than using a free email address e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, Live, etc.
#4 Provide full contact details – don’t forget to include who you want your affiliate checks made payable to:
#5 Select your preferred payment method but there’s no PayPal option…which is annoying:
#6 The final step is to agree to their T&Cs; – you’ll see the Awin branding included here – and then click on the confirmation email to submit your finalized application for review.
It shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes to finish your application for a ShareASale account – after that, it’s just a question of filling out the online form and submitting it. Then comes the waiting. It was a lot faster for me than on other networks, where the process is so complicated that I gave up attempting to acquire an account.
The Question Is, What Brands Can You Promote?
Almost 4,500 merchants utilize ShareASale as their preferred affiliate marketing network. They have never been a “big brand” affiliate network, which is actually a good thing. SME’s (Small and Medium Enterprises) are more amenable to the notion of small site ownership.
Optimizing Your WordPress Website for Shareasale
How can you increase your affiliate earnings?
- Choose a high-quality hosting service that’s reliable, fast and updated.
- Choose a simple domain name that clearly communicates what your page is about. If you’re running a popular fitness blog, make sure you’re linking to merchants that cater to that market niche.
How Easy Is It To Use?
The dashboard on ShareASale is intended to provide you with a real-time picture of what’s going on in your account. ‘At A Glance displays your affiliate payment balance, any essential ShareASale account updates, and merchants that are presently down or closed.
It also offers a ‘Trending Merchants’ feature that shows the top ten most popular merchant programs on the site as well as a list of each other’s programs.
Finding Affiliate Programs
The fundamentals are the same as their competitors — click on ‘Merchants’ and ‘Search for Merchants’:. Back in the day, it was one of the largest networks, along with Commission Junction, Linkshare, and ClickBank. ShareASale allows you to fund directly into the network.
Affiliate programs can be sorted by: EPC Sale Commission Lead Commission Hit/Click Commission Alphabetical Start Date. Cookie Length Power Rank (internal metric). Joined Status 7 or 30-day.
But it’s the ‘Modify Search’ function sub-menu that I truly like: It’s as if you’ve been granted superpowers to locate the exact sorts of affiliate programs you’re looking for.
- EPC Greater Than
- Commission Rate Greater Than
- Two-tier Program
ShareASale’s search engine makes it easier than ever to find the “ideal” affiliate program. Users can apply for programs with the commission amount they desire, an EPC that indicates they’ll make long-term revenue and the option of getting rewarded for referrals.
Creating Affiliate Links
On July 8, 2010, this entry was published. From the top nav menu, select ‘Links’ and ‘Get a Link/Banner’:. On the following screen, just click ‘Get Links’:. All that remains is for you to study and select the sort of content you want (text link, banner, etc.).
- A bookmarklet is still in beta which explains why it doesn’t work very well
- Custom Link Tool is their in-house tool for creating short links
- Make-A-Page allows you to create product galleries
- Product Showcase allows you to create banners displaying products from a specific program
Affiliate payments are made on the 20th of each month, on a net 30 basis. So you’d get paid on March 20th for whatever sales you made between February 20th and March 1st. Some networks do pay regularly, but I don’t envy them juggling reversals and refunds with current payouts.
You can pay by direct deposit, mail check or via Payoneer. It’s annoying that they don’t offer PayPal, but I’d much prefer to see them taking the lead here and offering payment in cryptos.
Before you may get a payout from ShareASale, you must first have a $50 balance in your affiliate account.
People have genuinely complained that it should be $10 rather than $50.
However, if you can’t earn $50 via affiliate marketing, you may be in the wrong “career.”
So, what should you do if you can’t figure out how to build a link to a certain affiliate program, your payment is late, or you’re simply perplexed?
You contact ShareASale customer service.
To be fair, they make the first step by including a link to an introductory tutorial in your welcome email, but let’s assume you want assistance with something more particular.
Their knowledge base (named Help Center) is usable, however, I haven’t seen an interface like this since around 2002 — it’s shown in an iFrame… with scrollbars.
Seriously, ShareASale, it’s time to go over this again.
Apart from that, they provide an email address and a phone number via which you may reach them.
