Brian Littleton started ShareASale in 2000, and it now hosts over 3900 merchant programs on its network infrastructure. ShareASale is one of the largest affiliate networks in the United States in terms of the number of advertisers who use an affiliate network to handle their affiliate program. On June 10th, 2017, it was bought for an unknown sum by Awin, a subsidiary of the Axel Springer Group.

What is affiliate marketing?

Merchants sell directly from their websites, and affiliate programs enable you to link to them directly. If a customer clicks on one of these links and then makes a purchase, the affiliate receives a tiny commission.

The key to affiliate marketing is trust: we’ve all seen websites that are nothing more than sponsored links and adverts, or business blogs with entries that are nothing more than marketing text for merchants. To make affiliate marketing work, you must first identify the ideal affiliate partner and then guarantee that the material you provide will pique the attention of users and force them to click on merchant links.

Signing Up

The first thing we need to take a look at is how easy (or difficult) it is to sign up for a publisher account with ShareASale.

Certain affiliate networks make this far more complicated than it needs to be.

#1 Choose a username and password and let them know what country you live in.

#2 Add your primary affiliate website– this domain will be used to verify your ShareASale account later, so use a live site.

They’re also pretty stringent about the types of affiliate marketing sites they allow on the network i.e. no adult content:

#3 Enter your email address, but using an email address @yourdomain.com is going to be far more effective than using a free email address e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, Live, etc.

#4 Provide full contact details – don’t forget to include who you want your affiliate checks made payable to:

#5 Select your preferred payment method but there’s no PayPal option…which is annoying:

#6 The final step is to agree to their T&Cs; – you’ll see the Awin branding included here – and then click on the confirmation email to submit your finalized application for review.

It shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes to finish your application for a ShareASale account – after that, it’s just a question of filling out the online form and submitting it. Then comes the waiting. It was a lot faster for me than on other networks, where the process is so complicated that I gave up attempting to acquire an account.

The Question Is, What Brands Can You Promote?

But it’s the ‘Modify Search’ function sub-menu that I truly like: It’s as if you’ve been granted superpowers to locate the exact sorts of affiliate programs you’re looking for.

ShareASale’s search engine makes it easier than ever to find the “ideal” affiliate program. Users can apply for programs with the commission amount they desire, an EPC that indicates they’ll make long-term revenue and the option of getting rewarded for referrals.

Creating Affiliate Links

On July 8, 2010, this entry was published. From the top nav menu, select ‘Links’ and ‘Get a Link/Banner’:. On the following screen, just click ‘Get Links’:. All that remains is for you to study and select the sort of content you want (text link, banner, etc.).

Payment Timeframe

Affiliate payments are made on the 20th of each month, on a net 30 basis. So you’d get paid on March 20th for whatever sales you made between February 20th and March 1st. Some networks do pay regularly, but I don’t envy them juggling reversals and refunds with current payouts.

Payment Methods

You can pay by direct deposit, mail check or via Payoneer. It’s annoying that they don’t offer PayPal, but I’d much prefer to see them taking the lead here and offering payment in cryptos.

Note:

Before you may get a payout from ShareASale, you must first have a $50 balance in your affiliate account.

People have genuinely complained that it should be $10 rather than $50.

However, if you can’t earn $50 via affiliate marketing, you may be in the wrong “career.”

Help/Support

So, what should you do if you can’t figure out how to build a link to a certain affiliate program, your payment is late, or you’re simply perplexed?

You contact ShareASale customer service.

To be fair, they make the first step by including a link to an introductory tutorial in your welcome email, but let’s assume you want assistance with something more particular.

Their knowledge base (named Help Center) is usable, however, I haven’t seen an interface like this since around 2002 — it’s shown in an iFrame… with scrollbars.

Seriously, ShareASale, it’s time to go over this again.

Apart from that, they provide an email address and a phone number via which you may reach them.

Making the Most of Shareasale

They provide pay-per-call services as well as two-tier programs.

Conclusion

I joined ShareASale. And the most profitable product I have promoted has been Grammarly. I was excited that they paid us for leads. And because the product is actually good, a high percentage of my leads convert. I will keep on looking for more products to promote. So far, I’ve had a good experience with ShareASale.

ShareASale is a great platform to find products to promote on your website, with over 4000 to choose from you will find a product to be proud of. I sell a guitar playing course from ShareASale and have found then easy to apply to and use. They give you great banners and it’s very simple to find them in your account. They have been around for a long time and a reliable, especially for new people to internet marketing.
