How Perfect Is It For Course Creators?
It for all intents and purposes is easy to use for creating and managing courses in a pretty major way. The systems required to collect payments basically are all seamlessly into the platform, or so they really thought. They also for all intents and purposes stand out to be a go-to website when it kind of comes to finding a variety of courses that actually help course creators literally sell kind of more courses, which generally is quite significant. For affiliates, they generally have created a state-of-the-art affiliate program you can leverage to mostly earn money and various rewards.
Udemy Affiliate Commission Rate
You are paid a commission of 15% on any course you sell. This is a generous commission rate in the industry.
Other similar programs to Udemy also offer a commission rate of 15%. So, Udemy deserves kudos for the generous offer.
The Treehouse affiliate program is the only affiliate program in the industry that offers a higher commission rate than others, and it offers a commission rate of 50%.
Udemy also offers a 7-day cookie length.
Depending on how serious you are, you can get 1000 visitors a month or even a day.
Pros of the Affiliate Program
Availability of Thousands of Courses
Just as everyone that buys products online is familiar with Amazon, so is Udemy to everyone that buys courses online. With this, you can rest assured that Udemy’s brand will help you in your efforts. The platforms have thousands of courses, all of which you can effortlessly promote to your audience.
If you have a fishing blog, you can teach people how to choose the perfect bait
If you have a yoga blog, you can teach people how to improve their stretching
Do you have a marketing blog?
Access to Promotional Materials
As an Udemy affiliate, you have unlimited access to particular promotional resources such as the Udemy banners and promotions you can run for your audience.
This also helps in leveraging the impeccable branding power Udemy has in the online courses niche.
Cons of the Affiliate Program
It Takes Up To 4 Days Approval Period
It takes Udemy a few days to get an affiliate application approved. To become an affiliate of Udemy, unlike with most other affiliate programs that grant access immediately, you just have to exercise a little bit of patience.
7-day Cookie Length
As said above, Udemy uses a 7-day cookie length. The industry standard stands at 30 days. Udemy once offered a 30-day cookie length in past but later decreased it. The decrease is a setback. Though 7 days is enough to convert a customer and this doesn’t sound like a hindrance, it would be better to have been left at 30-cookie length.
How to Get Started
If you decide to create an account through a link on the Udemy affiliate page, then you’ll automatically apply for the Udemy affiliate program. But if you create an account from the Rakuten LinkShare website, you will have to find the Udemy affiliate program on the network and apply for it.
While your registration at the Rakuten LinkShare network is approved immediately, approval to become part of the Udemy program takes a few business days
Before you consider applying at all, you will need to have a website or blog and the category of the course you’d want to promote must be relevant to your website or blog and its content.
An example is, if you have a niche blog about photography, you shouldn’t be thinking of promoting courses on how to become a psychic or anything else. The point is that you should pick a course related to your niche.
However, if this information isn’t sufficient to guide your application, you can read more about how to apply to the affiliate program directly on the Udemy website.
The Best Way to Promote the Udemy Affiliate Program
The best way to promote Udemy courses is to build an audience and a specific course you have an interest in. Once you have built an audience, it only takes time to convert and start earning money.
All you need to have is a targeted and engaged audience of people and information the audience would want to pay for.
How Much Can a Udemy Affiliate Earn?
For the sake of emphasis, I would like to use a generic formula of 1000 visitors with a modest 1% conversion rate.
A course on Udemy costs between $9 and $299.
However, it has been reported that you can expect the average sale to be around $50.
Your commission for that $50 worth of the course would be $20 (40%).
Some popular online learning platforms feature a membership system, but Udemy kind of is a pay-per-course service in a big way. the company frequently hosts sales, which kind of is fairly significant.
Udemy accepts definitely international debit and credit cards, fairly PayPal and bank transfers. The company offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, which actually is quite significant.
To wrap it all up, I think Udemy is a fantastic program anyone can utilize to sell online courses. I can as well say that if you’d be serious about the program, you can easily create a full-time income source as an Udemy affiliate

I love this, not only to affiliate market but to take courses! I have an avid interest in cooking and I do see that they have plenty of courses in that arena (1,903 to be exact), including two of my favorites, Thai and Indian. As I go through what’s available, I’m sure I’ll branch out into other areas as well because the prices I’m seeing are under $30 and many under $15. I could take a course every week! But I don’t see a link in this article? It would make it easier to find the website. Thank you for posting!
thanks for a timely moment, Cynthia. you have the spirit of an achiever. Udemy is a great platform not only for affiliate marketing but also for free courses. this is a great place to start up with online businesses. thanks so much for stopping by. affiliate links now inserted.
I have never heard of this before, maybe it is new to the market. But I love learning. I come from a family that’s big on education so I found this article pretty interesting. I will actually refer it to my father. I know for a fact that he will appreciate it. He’s a lecturer so that should speak for itself.
Thanks, Daniel for your comment. Udemy is a great platform for those that love learning new things. It has enlarged my scope of understanding since I can buy a course and study at my pace. Thanks, Dan and have a wonderful time bro.
